Google Maps (New 3D Navigation)

Turn a massive Excel spreadsheet into a dashboard with ChatGPT

If you’ve ever opened a massive Excel spreadsheet and wondered, “How am I supposed to make sense of all of this?” ChatGPT can help turn all that raw data into something much easier to understand. This may be one of my new favorite tricks!

Using the ChatGPT desktop app, you can point ChatGPT directly to an Excel file on your computer and ask it to build an interactive dashboard. In our example, we started with more than 1,800 rows of sales data covering products, sales reps, revenue, costs, profit, regions, and more.

With a simple prompt, ChatGPT transformed that spreadsheet into a polished dashboard with top-level metrics, monthly performance, revenue by category, and interactive filters. Change the date range, product, or region, and the entire dashboard updates automatically.

Want to make changes? You can describe what you’d like adjusted—or even point directly at part of the dashboard using the annotation tool. We changed the entire dashboard to our brand colors with one quick request.

Best of all, the finished dashboard doesn’t have to stay inside ChatGPT. Using Sites, you can publish it, share it with your team, or make it publicly accessible.

It’s a great example of how AI can take a spreadsheet full of numbers and turn it into something you can actually explore, understand, and share—in just a few minutes.
