My Thoughts on Fable 5—and What It Means for AI

I recently had the opportunity to use Anthropic's Fable 5 model before it was pulled, and it was one of the biggest leaps in AI capability I've experienced. It wasn't just a little better—it felt like an entirely new class of model.

Whether I was coding, reasoning through complex problems, or orchestrating creative projects, it consistently delivered results that were faster, smarter, and more polished than anything I'd used before.

One demonstration that really stood out was using Fable 5 to coordinate an entire YouTube production workflow—from writing the script to generating avatars, voiceovers, and motion graphics. The quality was remarkable and offered a glimpse into where AI is heading.

Its sudden suspension also raises some important questions. How should governments balance innovation with security? Are these pauses always about public safety, or do they sometimes benefit the companies already leading the AI race? And as AI becomes capable of producing increasingly human-like content, how do we preserve trust and authenticity?

Whether or not Fable 5 returns in its original form, I think it offered a preview of the next generation of AI. The pace of progress isn't slowing down, and the conversations happening today will help shape how these powerful tools are developed and used in the years ahead.
